G7+ Subject Matter Experts’ Dialogue on Scam Centres in Southeast Asia

G7 partners will meet to discuss key topics to support fostering economic prosperity and resilience at the G7 Industry, Digital and Technology Ministers’ Meetin, co-hosted by:

  • The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry

  • The Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation

Building on the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta — where leaders adopted the G7 Kananaskis Common Vision for the Future of Quantum Technologies and the Leaders’ Statement on AI for Prosperity — the ministers are working on an agenda focused on fostering economic prosperity and resilience.

Following the main two-day event, Operation Shamrock Founder Erin West will participate in the G7+ Subject Matter Experts’ Dialogue on Scam Centres in Southeast Asia, held on December 9 and 10. Erin will provide her expertise as a speaker in two moderated sessions, followed by group discussion and exchange.

Trafficking in Persons (TiP) and Forced Criminality

  • Speakers:

Building Law Enforcement Capacity

  • Moderator: Troy Lulashnyk, Director General, Peace and Security Programs, Global Affairs Canada

  • Speakers:

    • Aileen Yap, Assistant Director, Anti-Scam Command, Commercial Affairs Department, Singapore Police Force

Key Areas of Discussion

The ministers are expected to discuss five areas as part of the Industry, Digital and Technology Ministers’ Meeting: 

  • Industrial competitiveness, particularly in the context of growing market fragmentation and supply chain shocks. Ministers aim to facilitate collaboration that boosts productivity and drives growth across the G7.

  • AI, with a focus on reducing barriers to AI adoption by small businesses.

  • Critical emerging technologies, including next-generation quantum technologies.

  • A competitive and resilient digital economy, supporting innovation and inclusive growth.

  • Supply chain security, to strengthen economic resilience and reduce vulnerabilities.
